The information they did find was outdated, hard to understand or directed toward veterinary professionals, all of which were little help for their immediate issues. They knew there had to be a better way; so together they set out to develop a website that would change the face of online pet health information ... and in the process, make all of us more responsible and proactive pet owners.

About Our Founders

Tina Cannon, President & CEO

As President and CEO, Tina Cannon oversees the PetsMD web site -- its content, community, services, products, policies, design, and production. Together with her staff, located in Austin Texas, and with Executive Vice President Christi Scovel, Ms. Cannon is a co-founder and charged with ensuring that both the millions of users who visit the web site daily and the sponsors who target those users are continuously satisfied and delighted.

Ms. Cannon holds a Bachelor degree in Business from Texas State University with a discipline in Accounting.

Before starting PetsMD.com, Ms. Cannon has been a senior level auditor with a Fortune 500 company; internal business consultant helping business owners become more successful by implementing best practices solutions. Ms. Cannon has served on the Board of Directors of the Austin Chapter of Certified Internal Auditors as well as the Austin Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Ms. Cannon has a border collie named Dallas and two cats, Bruiser and Baby-Girl.

Christi N. Scovel, Chief Veterinary Content Editor and Vice President

As Chief Veterinary Content Editor and Vice President at PetsMD.com, Christi N. Scovel, is in charge of original PetsMD content creation, including veterinary news, features, tools, and health reference information.

She is a co-founder of PetsMD and now oversees a staff of editors, writers, and others responsible for creating content and assuring its continued medical accuracy and relevance to the PetsMD audience.

Ms. Scovel is a veterinary professional and has spent 15 years in the industry spanning the scope of veterinary medicine. Ms. Scovel began her career in patient care and quickly discovered the need for improved client education and operational efficiencies within the hospital setting. Ms. Scovel's passion has been to constantly raise the bar in veterinary medicine from the practitioners perspective to the client's perspective.

Some of the key areas where Ms. Scovel has made a difference:

• Designing and Implementation of client educational programs for multiple premier veterinary hospitals.
• Feed and Health Management plans for some of the largest feedlots in Texas and New Mexico.
• Veterinary Operational Consultant specializing in better practice protocols and procedures.
• Training and Implementing leading Practice Management Software program for Idexx Laboratories.

Ms. Scovel has served on numerous animal welfare non-profit organizations, and has added value to these organizations through training veterinary staff, streamlining operations, and improving client communication.

Ms. Scovel has a Shih-tzu named Ripley.

Marcos Canchola, Chief Financial Officer

As the CFO for PetsMD.com, Marcos Canchola brings an edge to the PetsMD team with his financial expertise in numerous successful start-ups. Mr. Canchola is a successful local businessman with multiple business enterprises within his financial portfolio.

Mr. Canchola holds a Bachelors degree in Business from Texas State University with a discipline in Accounting.
