The Spinone Italiano was descended from Griffon stock in the Piedmont area of Italy. They have been around since the Middle Ages and have been used for hunting and retrieving wild game birds.

APPEARANCE(S)

Spinone Italianos are large bodied dogs with square heads, and long drop ears, and docked tails. This breed has distinguishing features on the face that include: bushy eyebrows, long mustache and beard.

COLOR(S)


This breed is most commonly seen in white with yellow or tan patches.

COAT


The coat is short, rough and wiry to the touch.

This breed needs a lot of exercise and needs to be groomed regularly. Spinone Italianos need to be given a lot of attention and need space to run off the leash. They will bark and be unfriendly to strangers at the door.

This breed would do best in the suburbs or country.
