The Samoyed is an ancient breed. The nomadic tribes in Siberia named this breed and used them to as guard dogs, reindeer herders, and as sled dogs.

APPEARANCE(S)

Samoyeds are large dogs with triangular heads. The eyes are set wide apart, and the ears are small and erect. The tail is long and bushy and carried over the back. The mouth is wide and curls up on the ends making it look like the Samoyed is smiling.

COLOR(S)


This breed is most commonly seen in white.

COAT


The Samoyed has an outer coat that is straight and rough. The undercoat is soft, dense and wooly.

This breed loves to play. They are lovable and protective of their families. Samoyeds are better with older children. They also love to play in the snow. This breed is usually quite successful in canine sports.

THINGS TO CONSIDER


The Samoyed can be overprotective at times, and is known to be a little stubborn. If left alone for to long they can become noisy and destructive.

IDEAL LIVING SITUATION

This breed would do well in the country or city if exercised daily.

This breed needs to be exercised daily. They also need proper grooming, and really needs to be brushed weekly.
