The Pomeranian was originally bred as a large sled dog in the 16th century. This breed was bred down the size we know now sometime in the 19th century. The Pomeranian often has a personality that reflects that they still think they are big dogs. The toy Pomeranian was a popular companion dog, and continues to be the same today.
APPEARANCE(S)
Pomeranians are small dogs with a fine build. The head is small and fox like. The ears are erect and the tail is curled over the back.COLOR(S)
This breed is most commonly seen red, black, sable, brown, blue, orange, cream, or any combination of these.
COAT
The outercoat is dense, coarse and straight. The undercoat is thick and much softer. The coat around the neck is heavier than any where else on the body.

Pomeranians are smart and loving to the family. They like to learn new things, and enjoy spending as much time in their owners laps as possible. This breed makes a wonderful companion to a single owner.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
This breed can be a stubborn, and they do not like to share their toys or food with other dogs or children. Pomeranians act like they are big dogs; they will bark and growl at strangers and children. They generally don’t do well with kids, unless they are socialized with them at a young age. This breed is known to be a “fear biter”, which means they will snap at kids and strangers that try to pick them up or pet them.

This breed needs to be groomed on a regular basis. Socialization with children at a young age is recommended. The Pomeranian has a very delicate build; therefore they can become injured easily.BREED RELATED HEALTH CONCERNS
