The Pekingese is considered one of the ancient breeds. This breed was a favorite of the Chinese Imperial Court. The Pekingese was bred to be a smaller version of the “lion dog”, also known as the Lhasa Apso. This breed has become a very popular companion in modern times.
APPEARANCE(S)
The Pekingese is has a small sturdy body type. They have round black eyes and small drop ears, the tails curl over the back. The Pekingese is also considered a brachycephalic breed, this refers the super short muzzle and the way the nose looks like it is smashed into the face. These dogs are more prone to breathing problems, and they will snort and sneeze frequently.COLOR(S)
This breed is most commonly seen in red, black, fawn, black and tan, sable, or a combination of these.
COAT
The outercoat is long, straight, and dense but does have a soft feel. The undercoat is very thick. The coat is normally kept very long and has a part down the middle from the head to the tail. Often the hair on the face is kept long and brushed and made to look like a lion mane.

This breed is loving and loyal to their owners. They make good lap dogs for adults and older owners. They are not always good with children and they are wary of strangers.
