The Greyhound is an ancient breed; the origins of this breed have existed for around 4000 years. The modern Greyhound originated in Europe sometime around 900 A.D., where they were bred for hunting. The Greyhound is considered a sight hound, meaning they hunt by sight rather than by scent. This breed was introduced to racing in the 18th century and is still used as athletes today. Most Greyhounds that are companion dogs are in fact retired racing dogs.
APPEARANCE(S)
The Greyhound has a large tall frame that is built for speed. They have a narrow head with semi drop ears and the tail is long and skinny. The neck is long as well as the back and the Greyhound has long skinny legs, high-tucked abdomen and a deep chest.COLOR(S)
The Greyhound can be seen in any color. The most common colors are red, fawn, black, and brindle.

This breed has a very short slick coat.PERSONALITY

POSITIVES
This breed is very gentle with people and other dogs. They love kids and are quite affectionate. Ironically, the Greyhound is happiest when they can just sleep on the couch.

Due to their racing nature, they do tend to chase cats and other small animals.
