Great Danes originated in Germany, where they were bred to hunt wild boar. The Great Dane has become a popular companion dog in recent years.

APPEARANCE(S)

The Great Dane is a giant breed, as they can stand up to four feet tall from the shoulders to the floor. Great Dane’s have long legs, deep chests, and a high tucked abdomen. The head is large and blocky with drop ears. The ears are normally cropped to be erect. The eyes are set close together and the muzzle is long and narrow with lips that usually hang down over the chin.

This breed is most commonly seen in fawn, brindle, black, blue, or harlequin.

Great Danes are loving and loyal to the family. This breed loves to be loved! It is often said that Great Danes are the biggest lap dogs out there. They do well with children and other animals when raised with them. The Great Dane makes a good watchdog, as they will bark with their deep voice at the onset of strangers.

The Great Dane has been known to not know their own strength, and some can be heavy droolers.
