GROUP HOUND GROUP


The English Foxhound originated in the 13th century and they were bred from bloodhounds and possibly greyhounds. This breed was developed to be quick and agile in order to hunt red foxes.

APPEARANCE(S)

English Foxhounds are large dogs with long legs and are built to run. The head is wide across the forehead and the muzzle is long. They have large drop ears, and the tail is long and skinny and carried high when hunting.

COLOR(S)


The English Foxhound is most commonly seen in the traditional tri-color of the hounds, black, tan and white. It is common to see freckles or ticking in white patches on the neck and over the hindquarters.

English Foxhounds are fun loving and will like anyone who is willing to play with them. They will chase anything, and they are great with children and other dogs. The English Foxhounds is better suited for a family that is high energy, as they need plenty of exercise.

THINGS TO CONSIDER


This breed has a habit of wandering, and is not recommended for household with cats. They can be a bit noisy, as the hunting instinct in them will cause them to bark and bay at other dogs.

IDEAL LIVING SITUATION

This breed would do best in the country and with a family that can provide a lot of exercise and playtime.

This breed needs a lot of space, but the space has to be secure, as they will tend to wander around.
