The Bouvier des Flandres was bred in the 17th century for herding and protecting cattle from packs of dogs.

APPEARANCE(S)

Bouvier des Flandres are large boxy dogs with a high tucked abdomen. The head is square and ears are erect and most commonly cropped.

COLOR(S)



This breed is usually black or grey, but can be fawn.

COAT


The coat is rough, heavy, and curly. The undercoat is dense-good for all weather. The most distinctive characteristic of this breed is the heavy beard and mustache.
