The American Water Spaniel was bred in the Midwest and are used to hunt birds from boats. It is generally thought that the Irish water spaniel and the culry-coated retriever are the ancestors of this breed.

APPEARANCE(S)

American Water Spaniel are small to medium built dogs with large droopy ears and eyes that are usually yellow, brown or gold. Their tails are long and curved.

COLOR(S)

The American Water Spaniel is usually dark brown to liver in color.

COAT

Short to medium and dense with lots of curls.
