The American Eskimo is related to the Spitz family. This breed was made popular by the circus, as they were bred to perform and to be watch dogs. This breed was the first to ever walk the tight rope at a circus.

APPEARANCE

American Eskimo’s are small to medium and of a compact build. They have a wedge shaped head with erect ears. The tail is bushy and curls over back.

COLOR(S)

The American Eskimo should be all white.

Medium to long very thick heavy coats are typical for this breed

American Eskimo’s are VERY clever dogs, for this reason they are easily trainable. This breed makes good watchdogs and does well with children and other dogs.

This breed does not like strangers and they do shed.

This breed will do well in the city or in the country. This dog needs a family that is active and will provide an active lifestyle.
