The Alaskan Malamute was bred for their strength. The Inuit people used Malamutes to pull sleds with heavy loads, not for racing them.

APPEARANCE

Alaskan Malamutes are large and robust in appearance. The head is triangular with small erect ears and a bushy tail that curls over the back.

COLOR(S)
The Alaskan Malamute is most commonly seen in white black or grey over back and belly. There are several color combinations seen in this breed: black/white, grey or silver/white, red/white and brown/white.

COAT
Medium to long very thick heavy coats are typical for this breed.

Malamutes are friendly patient dogs, that love to play. This breed does well with children.

This breed is known is known to be stubborn, and has a lot of energy to spare. This breed will shed.

IDEAL LIVING SITUATION

This breed will do well in the city or in the country, although an apartment situation would not be ideal. This dog needs a family that is active and will provide an active lifestyle.
