The Afghan Hound was originally bred and used for hunting dogs. These hounds were well suited for accompanying the hunters on horseback, due to their agility and speed.

APPEARANCE

Afghan Hounds are large in size and have a very regal stance. These hounds have long faces with long drooping ears and a long curved tail. The Afghan stands tall and proud and has a slight bend in the back legs.

Afghan Hounds can be any color; there is no dominant color or pattern..

Long and silky.

Afghan Hounds are very affectionate and gentle and love to run. These hounds are also easy to introduce into a family that already has dogs.

THINGS TO CONSIDER
Regular grooming is needed, and Afghan Hounds tend to be a challenge to train, and have been known to chase cats.

IDEAL LIVING SITUATION

This breed will do well in the city or in the country as long as there is room to run.
