HISTORY

The American Curl was the product of a genetic mutation that produced their distinctive backward ear curl.

APPEARANCE(S)

American Curl’s are medium in size and have a moderate amount of muscle on the body. They have a classic wedge shaped head with walnut shaped eyes and of course the famous ears.

COLOR(S)


The American Curl’s can have a multitude of colors and patterns, there is no specific or dominate color known to this breed.

COAT


The coats can be long and short, and the long haired curls have a very thin undercoat making matting a little possibility.

PERSONALITY

The American Curl’s are known to be loving and very people friendly. They are known for their playfulness and fondness for children.

GROOMING


These cats are good self groomers

HELPFUL INFORMATION/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

American Curl kittens are born with “normal” ears that don’t develop the curl until 2-3 weeks of age. Not all American Curl kittens will have this distinctive feature.
